Product Design Class Projects
PD 302: Intro to design studio II
Hale Selek
Associate Professor of Product Design
In PD 302, I observed and designed through the whole process of making a product. Sketching, model making, and prototyping techniques were essential and used to display and analyze the possible effectiveness of the design solution. Our term project was to redesign a digital object to fit a brand of your choice.

PD 323: Design Drawing
Erdem Selek
Associate Professor of Product Design
Design Drawing introduces specific techniques in drawing and modeling objects and their spatial context; the demonstration and implementation of various media and types of drawing. Over the course of the term, I acquired skills and learned different methods and drawing techniques, including diagramming, sketching in three dimensions, orthographic drawings, and quick modeling techniques. These techniques were learned through tutorial-based, follow-along exercises and by copying works from respected designers. All techniques are essential to success in future coursework and in the profession
Spring 2025
Professor Erdem Selek would spend class time giving a step-by-step tutorial on drawings to understand techniques and form.
Tutorial Renders
Professor Erdem Selek would select drawings from designers for us to copy and learn from as students. He did not give a tutorial in this portion, and instead answered clarifying questions and provided support while we were drawing.

PD 223: Beginning Design Drawing
Trygve Faste
Associate Professor of Product Design
PD 223 focused on perspective, line weight, construction with primary shapes, and shading in the creation of three-dimensional objects. Through the use of pencils, pens, markers, and other hand rendering media, I generated forms and thought creatively in order to invent designs that are thoughtful, innovative, and articulate. In-class studio work was a primary focus of the class, and critiquing my own work and that of my peers helped assess the physical work produced.
Fall 2024
Developing Form and Technique
The first 5 weeks of class focused on foundation, and there was emphasis on perspective, length, form, and scale.
Form Development
Through the foundations learned in the first half of class, the projects consisted of starting with basic forms and slowly developing them to create a realistic object. There was also a focus on learning techniques with markers and realistic shading.
